Like a boat

Crashing against the waves

At first it feels nice

Rocking you to sleep

Enjoying the peace and quite

Slowly

Water begins to seep in

You plug it up

Only for another hole to form

You eventually run out of resources

You begin to sink

What's next

Do you surrender yourself to the waters below

Succumbing to the darkness

Do you innovate

Creating something to provide a slice of hope

To hang on

You find yourself becoming one with the boat

No movement

Waters rise

Clouds cover the sky

Hands pruned

Suddenly

A drip on the face

A feeling familiar that covers the body

But touches differently

A memory of the past

You've been here before

You know what to do

Only you can create the change

A gasp of air

A splash in the water

Not much time to go

A second longer and the boat will be below

The rain begins to pour

Heart pounding

Thoughts distracting

Go to what you know

Piece by piece

Strapped together

Toes slipped in

You find your body submerged

Head beneath the water

Feet kicking

Body Shaking

The cold water all around

A drip on the fingers

A feeling familiar

Fingers begin to tingle

Wood

Strength

You're holding on

Feet kicking

Body shaking

You pull yourself up

Exhausted

But alive

Eyes a blur

Darkness hits

Time passes

A drip on the toes

A feeling unfamiliar

Floating

Warmth

No longer crashing

You have landed
